Tuesday 5th December.

36 Ladies teed off on a cold, dry, day dressed in a variety of seasonal costumes. Fuelled by mulled wine and festive nibbles several elves, a reindeer, some Santas, a holly bush and even an Easter bunny (think this one had been on the wine before she chose the costume) set off to play golf and work up an appetite for lunch.

...

There were prizes galore as befits Christmas, all with a festive theme, and the various winners were:

First tee - Winning team: Sarah Brice: Julie King: Alison Acey - 54 points

Tenth Tee - Winning Team: Brenda Aherne: Cheryl Bright: Joan Penhaligan - 53 points

Best individual 'Christmas Ball' score: Front Nine: Lynn Dawson; Back Nine: Jan Batchelor

Best Festive Dress: Sophie Lane and Rosanna Richardson

Annual Trophies:

Birdie Tree: Remony Millwater; Par Pyramid: Joan Messent; England Golf Memento: Liz Stacey.

The attendance of several very welcome social members (plus Jan and Jo from the office) meant that 46 people dined on a superb lunch provided by Bernie and his team, preceded by the obligatory ‘bubbles’ provided by Jean in celebration of a forthcoming ‘special’ birthday!

After lunch the Ladies were tested by a simple (?) little quiz, with all prizes certainly well earned! The winning team was led by Lady Captain Jan (well, she did set the questions, after all) with the second place prizes literally distributed around the dining room!

The lucky winner of the charity hamper was Liz Jardine, but top prize of the day, The Noisiest Table, went to Table No.7, who also won the unofficial prize of most empty bottles. Hmm, might be some connection there.

All in all, a great fun day, thoroughly enjoyed by all participants, and a sound way to kick off the Christmas period at the club.
