Course is Open

The weather could not have been better – sunshine with a light breeze – to welcome an entry of nearly all the lady playing members.
Our Lady Captain arranged a two-tee start and John Bullock and Dave Raymond sent us on our way with reminders of all the different prizes we could win, in addition to the Lady Captain’s prize.
Perfect conditions should have meant perfect golf but, as usual, the course came out on top. However, with Pimms and delicious snacks at the halfway hut (thanks to our Lady Captain and daughter, Julie, for an impressive spread) and one of Bernie’s afternoon teas to look forward to, everyone seemed to enjoy their round in the friendly conditions.
The action shots (click here to view) taken on the course by Barry make interesting viewing: elegant swings, shots in and out of the long grass, colourful clothing, lots of smiles and some wonderful views of the course.
Players and social members gathered in the club after play: the prize table looked amazing and was groaning with a wonderful array of prizes. A welcome drink was enjoyed on the balcony (where entertaining tales of highs, lows and near misses could be heard) before sitting down to a well-deserved feast at the elegantly decorated tables.
Before the prize giving our Lady Captain presented Lynn Dawson with the trophy she recently won in the Cecil Leitch final at Redlibbets. This marvellous achievement added to the festive atmosphere of a great day’s golf and feasting!
