On Sunday 26th August, the R&CPGC Junior Team played against The Nevill GC in the semi final of the Knole Park Trophy.
On a roasting hot afternoon, the team were well stocked up with plenty of water and coated in sun cream just to get around the course. The Nevill got off to a fast start and were up in three matches through the first six holes, but our Juniors carried on fighting for every hole, knowing that the tougher back nine was coming up.
Luke Jenkins managed to secure the first point of the match with a convincing 4&3 win, and Harry Parkhouse went on to roll in a game-winning 15ft putt on the 18th to clinch the second point of the match. This started some great momentum through the team with Lucas Dennison coming back from 5-down to take his match down the 18th. Unfortunately, the hole was halved, so the third point went to The Nevill.
Fortunately, the two matches behind were both won by Riley Dowle and Matthew Darbinson with R&CPGC gaining a 4-1 victory.
Congratulations to our Junior team for a superb performance, and good luck for the final, which will be played at Royal Blackheath GC on Sunday 22nd September.
