Twenty Ladies journeyed to Broome Park G.C near Barham for a day’s golf “Away from Home”.
In four-balls they ventured forth in calm and sunny weather to explore what the course had to offer. Although slightly hilly, their main challenge was to find all the balls played over blind ridges onto dramatically sloping fairways beyond! Once on the flatter back nine however, a moment taken to ‘look back’ and enjoy the spectacular views over the part of the course that they had just trekked, was a fine reward for their efforts.
After negotiating the Pond which guarded the 18th green (well done to those who actually did!), the Ladies gathered to enjoy refreshment before enjoying a delicious lunch served in the bay-windowed Georgian Room of the majestic Mansion House, once occupied by Earl Kitchener.
Lunch completed - Sarah, our Lady Vice Captain, (having carefully scrutinised the score cards) announced the results, with help from Lady President Pat. The winners were presented with prizes of the floral kind - unusual house plants in a variety of vibrant colours:

1st: Sarah Brice; Sally Ferrers; Maggie Reilly and Jan Fitzgerald
2nd: Chris Horne; Sue Siddle; Mary James and Alison Acey
Nearest the Pin on 2nd: Diane Stark
Nearest the Pin on 17th: Sue Siddle
N.P. ‘Over The Water’ on 18th: Pat Davoodbhoy.
Well done everyone!
Photographs completed, Sarah then presented a rather overwhelmed Lady Captain with a stunning glass cake stand in delicate hues of turquoise: a beautiful, and very much appreciated, memento of a happy and enjoyable day.
