On Shrove Tuesday the Ladies section had a fun yellow ball competition, played in teams of three.
To celebrate the day the Ladies wore their 'pinnies' on the golf course, much to the amusement of the green staff and some of the male members. In addition to providing an element of fun and entertainment, this added to the difficulty of the day as putting became quite a challenge due to the wind flapping the Ladies aprons!
After 18 holes the competitors were delighted to be served delicious pancakes made by Danny (the chef, not the greenkeeper!), who provided a number of toppings from lemon and sugar, to chocolate and summer fruits.
And, just to add to the flavour of the day the prizes were wooden spoons, lemons, pancake mix and tea towels ... which were all graciously received!
