An Open event for Junior golfers under the age of 15 on 1st January each year, the Douglas Johns Trophy is a prestigious event previously won by current tour players Oliver Fisher and Jack Singh Brar and US Open winner Justin Rose.
Held this year at Harewood Downs Golf Club in Amersham, a full field of 60 players took part in the competition, which had been shortened to 18 holes because of Covid restrictions.
Simon Mead (Newbury & Crookham) shot a solid level par 69 to take the clubhouse lead with 4 groups left to come in. Jack Lee (Rochester & Cobham Park) played a fantastic back nine of 32 to finish on 68 (-1) and take the lead. It all came down to the final group, where Tyler Weaver (Bury St Edmunds) had 3 birdies in the final 6 holes. However, this was not enough to beat Jack.
Congratulations to our Douglas Johns 2020 Champion Jack Lee, who won on a card count back.
