We would like to welcome you as a member who is aged 60 or over, or will be this year, and therefore becomes eligible to participate in our Veterans Section activities and competitions.
We would like to inform you what the Veterans Section has to offer in terms of Competitions, Friendlies and Leagues matches, in the hope that you may wish to join us. There is no entry fee to join our Vets Section, however you will need an active handicap to qualify and compete in our competitions.
The first event is the Spring meeting, on Wednesday 13th March. This is a qualifying ‘gold leaf’ competition followed by a dinner to which partners are invited. An entry sheet will be posted on the Vets Notice Board (located in the men’s’ changing room entry lobby) about 4 weeks prior with places for timed (and non-reserved) entries.
Members who want to play before 10am can now do so by simply swiping in via the Pro-shop system. Any such person also wishing to dine should add their name at the bottom of the entry sheet.
Starting this year the Spring Meeting will be held in aid of the Kent Air Ambulance Service who save many golfers’ lives every year, including one of our own last year.
We have 10 Friendly matches each year, played home and away, usually 12-a-side. Entry sheets for these go on the notice board a month in advance, so just add your name if you wish to be considered for selection.
We participate in the Kent Veterans Golf League at 3 different age levels and our team captains are:
60’s League - Peter Goodsell
70’s League - Roger Robinson
80’s League - George Penhaligan
All fixture details are in the Club Diary and can also be seen in the Vets Fixtures posted on the website and notice board. There is a downloadable copy of all matches in the Vets section of the club website.
Should you have questions regarding any of our activities, please do not hesitate to contact one of the following: George Penhaligan (Secretary), Alan Nicholls, Chris Wallace, David Raymond, Keith Hills, Barry McNally or Terry Heaver (Competition Secretary).
We look forward to welcoming you at one of our events.
